Invasions of 1066
The Invasions of 1066 were a series of invasions of Britannia following the death of Edward the Confessor on January 5 1066. Because of conflict between the interests of the Anglo-Saxon inhabitants of Britannia, previous invasions of the islands from elsewhere in Europe, and the personal life of King Edward, five different claimants to the throne suddenly emerged.
